Ginanne Brownell is an award-winning author and journalist. Her work has been published in outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Foreign Policy. Her second book, Elusive Mommyhood: an investigative reporter's personal journey into IVF and surrogacy, is both a memoir and journalistic deep dive examining assisted reproduction and surrogacy in a broad international context. She is the communications and research director of the Michigan Fertility Alliance and a co-founder of State Strong, a national coalition of state-level family building advocates, grassroots organizations and non-profits working to protect and expand access to fertility care and family building rights. She has two children born through surrogacy.
